Please read this information at least once every three months.  I believe that the largest room in the world is the room for improvement. With that thought in mind, realize that I will make changes to this information from time to time to improve our school and your experience in training.

Here are the points that I would like to make clear to everyone. Some of these points have been in place from the founding of our program back in 1998. Some  points are new. Please pay close attention so that you can get the most out of your Kung Fu experience.

I will do everything in my power to help you to grow in your Kung Fu skills. For the past 48 years I have had the great honor and privilege of training under some of the greatest masters in the world. These masters include: Grand Master Chan Pui, Grand Master Remy Presas and Grand Master Willem de Thouars. I have also studied under many other noteworthy instructors such as: James Keating, Joe Coehlo and Rich Manenti. The great power and knowledge that these instructors hold has been passed on to me through great sacrifice and much hard training. With these great teachers as the foundation of what I have achieved, I present to you, the ASP system of martial development.  This program was designed to be responsive to each individual practitioners needs. That means that nothing is more important to me than your positive growth. I have established a system that allows each person to grow at their own rate with no comparison to anyone else in the Kung Fu school. It is all about you!!! A few tools that I am using to better inform my students are our interactive web site and YouTube. If you are not already a member of our student web site then please go to www.mountainwarrior.ning.com and sign up today. You will receive the most up to date information about what is going on at our Kung Fu school as well as be able to interact with other members of our school. Also, we have put up almost 200 videos on YouTube to educate our students about health, motivation, philosophy and tutorials on physical movement. If you wish to get a lot better a lot faster study these videos. Just go to YouTube and type in Mountain Warrior Kung Fu. That should bring you to all of our videos. Remember that I am here to help you grow in any way that I can. If your direction is unclear to you, if you do not know what you should be doing to progress in your studies then please contact me right away. We will sit down and work out together what it is that you need to be doing. Following the great tradition of the Grand Masters that I have studied with, it is my goal that you become better than me. This is the only way that the martial arts can progress.

RESPONSIBILITY!!!! It is your responsibility to have a clean well kept uniform which is to be worn at each class. The only exception is when you turn it in for a belt rank patch or a star ( children only for stars ). Or if you are waiting for a new uniform to arrive because we are out of stock. There is no other reason to not have a uniform when participating in class. If you did not get it washed in time then be prepared to do 30 pushups before joining class. A clean, well kept, uniform is your RESPONSIBILITY.

It is important to get your belt rank patch on your uniform as soon as possible after moving up in belt rank. The cost for a new patch to be put on your uniform is $25.00 Please pay this amount when turning in your uniform for the patch. In the children’s class there is no cost for the stars to be put on the uniform the first time. We pay for that. Each time a star must be replaced the cost is $3.00 per star. When a child earns their Kung Fu Star, Kung Fu Superstar or Kung Fu Megastar patch the cost is $25.00 to have it put on the uniform. All additional patches – Demo team – Leadership or any others designated in the future will be $25.00 to put on the uniform.

Uniforms that have been torn or worn out in any way must be replaced as soon as possible.

Health – Diet – Fueling your body well.

I am a health food nut!!!! I love being healthy and I love encouraging my students to fuel their body’s better. Please remember that how you fuel your body will determine how well you perform in your Kung Fu class.

I require that you not bring anything in the door of the Kung Fu school that is not ORGANIC!!!! No treats, snacks, meals or drinks that are not completely organic. This applies to everyone coming in our door. Parents, Grandparents, friends or anybody that you may have invited to watch our classes. There are no exceptions!!!!

ORGANIC !!!!!!

If you are having a hard time understanding what organic means, then please get on the computer and look up Oregon Tilth. Reading there information will give you a good understanding of what it means to source your food organically.

It is not the Kung Fu way to ignore the needs of our bodies. How you fuel your body is of vital importance to your health and your performance in Kung Fu.

Do not bring any beverage into our school that is not completely organic. I prefer that you only bring in water. This point is non-negotiable. Do not bring in any items that promote poor health choices. Example: Gator aid, the vast majority of energy drinks, cups from fast food joints (I do not care what is in them). Do not bring these things into the Kung Fu school.

I am here (in part) to help you learn how to kick bad habits. By paying attention to how we treat our bodies at the Kung Fu school we can gain the self discipline to make better health choices away from the Kung Fu school.

 A NON-TOXIC ENVIRONMENT.

This seems to be a real tough one for most people to understand. So, I would like to refer you to a great book on the subject. “Detoxify or Die” by Sherri Rogers this book is a great start to understanding what is toxic in our environment and what we can do about it. So why is this a part of our Kung Fu school? The answer is rather lengthy and so I will try to make it as brief as possible.

Several years ago I almost died from what the Doctor termed “Liver distress” and when around to many toxins I can get sick again. Long story and that is all I will say about it here. Also, my wife, Sue has been battling Multiple Chemical Damage (MCD) for several years now. A few short years ago she too almost died from this condition. We both are affected by the chemicals in our environment and specifically the artificial scents from laundry detergent, dryer sheets, perfumes, colognes, lotions, hair products and anything else that has artificial scent attached to it.

PLEASE TRY TO REMAIN AS SCENT FREE IN THE KUNG FU SCHOOL AS POSSIBLE.

I know that this is a tough request but your courtesy is deeply appreciated. My health and the health of my wife depend on your good will. We are not only concerned with our health but your ability to limit these toxins in your life will improve your health as well.

GOALS, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO BLACK BELT.

How long it takes to get to the next belt rank is completely up to you. Most people that practice the self discipline to make it to Black Belt will take somewhere between 4 and 8 years. Some people may move faster and some may move slower. That is irrelevant. You are here for your own individual growth with no comparison to anyone else in the school. I will push you to achieve your best performance and gain as much out of your training as possible. But remember, you are still the one that has to do the work. The only way to see substantial growth is to push yourself outside of your comfort zone.

The individual belt rank requirements can be found either on the wall at the Kung Fu school or on the student web site. Please check the requirements frequently. They will change from time to time to reflect what it is that I feel a student should be gaining from their training here at the Mountain Warrior Kung Fu Academy. I am always in search of a better way to help my students achieve their goals in Kung Fu.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Courtesy

Be positive at all times. Encourage others for you will find a time when you need their encouragement to get you through your hard times. Be patient with your fellow class mates and forgive their inadequacies. If you are fortunate, they will forgive yours. Please keep voices quiet in the lobby when class is running. Parents please refrain from communicating with your child during class. If your child is having problems in the class that you feel are not being dealt with properly by the instructor. Please do not disrupt the class by talking to your child. Just set aside a few minutes after class to talk with the instructor about how you feel your child is doing in class. This is the appropriate time to raise any concerns about how your child is performing in our classes. If you would like more time please give us a call so that we can schedule a meeting to go over how to most effectively help your child achieve success.

Please help to keep a positive atmosphere in the school by greeting fellow students when they arrive and saying goodbye when they leave. Everyone likes the feeling of being thought of. Please stop your conversation when the instructor begins to talk. Respect for any instructor leading a class is vitally important in the study of the martial arts. If you cannot make it to class please call and let us know. This simple courtesy call is deeply appreciated.

There you have it. This is a good portion of what you need to know about how our Kung Fu school runs. I will add to this as time goes on and some things will change from time to time. That is called growth. Please re-read this material at least once every three months to be kept up to date on changes that may occur in our school.

I, Joseph Bronson, founder of the ASP system of martial development, founder of Tactical Disengagement Systems and head instructor at the Mountain Warrior Kung fu Academy, will do everything in my power to help each student achieve their highest potential in Kung Fu.

All Kung Fu students must remember and contemplate this saying:
