Living in the Stone age

This is the Cappadocia region in central Turkey.  It is known for its soft rock that was easily carved out and has been conitnually inhabited for thousands of years.  There are several underground cities, one of which could sustain 15,000 people for several months. The cities were used to hide from invaders.  There were even huge round stones that could be rolled in front of the camaflouged entrances to keep the invaders out.....straight out of Lord of the Rings.
