Hello from Pai,Thailand.
Pai is a small agricultural town in northern Thailand. Below are a couple of pictures of the house we are renting and our view of the rice fields from our backyard. The house also has a 3/4" pipe running from natural hot springs that originate in the hills close to the house. We fill a tub every night for a soak and a bath....all the comforts of home.
On our way to Pai, we spent four days in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Chaing Mai is the largest city in
Northern Thailand. It is in the northern hill country and has a population of approx. 900,000 people. The city was built in 726 AD. and it has many Buddhist temples.
While in Chiang Mai, I had the opportunity to attend a Muay Thai boxing event. It was very interesting to see the ceremony each Thai boxer goes through before each match. They walk the perimeter of the ring and say prayers of thanks to their family, coaches, spiritual leaders, etc... Depending on the region they come from in Thailand, they perform distinct "movements" almost like dance steps. I apologize for not providing video of these pre-fight ceremonies, but I didn't want to appear disrespectful.
I did, however, film a couple of short clips of different matches. The kicks were all lead leg and back leg kicks. Nobody threw a spinning kick; perhaps spinning kicks are not allowed. The first video is between two female Thai fighters. The second clip surprised me because before the match, one of the fighters looked a little soft around the mid-section. But as you will see, he had a very powerful back-leg wheel kick.
