This past week I have really felt a sharper focus on training. Part of this is due to the fact that I have completed my final paper for my academics this term. That freed up some time and attention towards
preparing for my black belt test. June 27th may be two months away,
but the date has lit a fire under me. Mr. Bronson has suggested that I start
extending one work-out a week to push up to five hours so my body isn’t shocked
on test day.

So along with my normal P90X work-outs and going through all my material each week (though last week I missed dynamic lock-flow because it was always too late for Carla to help me out … or she is tired of being in the
S-lock) I am working with Chuck once a week going through material and
continuing to make the most of time before and after classes. This last class I
was able to get a fair amount of material covered with cover-n-slash, knife
lines, and stick and knife in the air and dummy work before class & dummy
work and training free-flow hubud and empty-hand drills with Lazarus after
class … with 20 minutes of stretching. Anyone else stiff from all the good
kicking on Thursday?

On Wednesday of this week I was also able to get a 7.5 hour continuous hike/climb in from Multnomah Falls to Larch Mountain with a 30 lb pack on. That was my first work-out over 3 hours in a row for a long time. My
system was shocked. I plan on climbing Mt. Bachelor next week and getting a
three hour training workout with Chuck in Sunday to lesson the shock of being
physically and mentally on for so long.
