love the staff ... and recalibrating my work-out rhythm

When more sand comes to the shores of our lives, we need to adjust. I was reminded of that personally this holiday season, as well as with my pursuit towards my forms test.

I have been able to get my basic staff flow drills and most of the staff form at the 2nd level of forms. It is so fun, but when combined with my nine other forms, I have too much to go over and keep strong in one day. I haven't found the right rhythm for this season just yet, but I am playing with doing my first nine forms in the morning as a warm-up and then focusing on my staff drills and form. Every third day I will focus on the nine forms and work them at top speeds.

Today my work-out consisted of first nine forms three times each focusing on correct placement and stance. I then did the first nine forms seven times each at top speed, pushing confusion. In the afternoon I worked through each staff drill for fifty reps and my new staff form seven times working on placement and stance. A bit much for one day, but I feel good. And besides, it is holiday season and I have more time and less interruption! I will see how I feel tomorrow and adjust accordingly.

The more you learn the more you adjust.
