It has been awhile since I have posted about my training. The summer season has hit for us and that means training for the trail as well as for forms. This past week and a half we were getting ready for a Mt. Hood summit attempt on Wednesday. Sadly, the day before a 54 year old from New Jersey fell to his death and the avalanche warnings were high so we postponed the attempt. I slowed my forms training in anticipation of this climb and gave more attention to my load bearing and incline training. I continue to work through my sword form between 10 and 30 reps of what I know a day, but I would like to do more. Slowly the sword form is getting more comfortable. We are going to try to make another attempt at Mt. Hood this next week. After this adventure, it will be time again to push towards greater depth with the forms before a June climb of Mt. Adams comes. Keep training hard!

Oooo ... that would have been fun. I thought about it a bit, but doing forms work on the ice with crampons might have tweaked the knees. I know, excuses - excuses. I had some good work with the sword and my staff forms today. I am excited to get back to the higher level forms being the majority of my training.

Great job. Would love to see pictures from the summits of good stance work :)
