It is an exciting time for kung fu training. This past seven days I have been able to work in the pointers and deepening insight Sifu helped me with in my last private class. I trained up on Mt. Hood, near the Deschutes river, and last night on the beach. The forms are becoming a part of my daily life. I'm nearing the end of the 2nd degree forms material and I am beginning to do longer workouts in preparation for the 2nd degree test. My forms training shoes just gave their last effort and my pants are near the end as well. The shoes have lasted 3 years and it is time to finish this push with a fresh pair. The pants have been 7 years - has it really been that long? I am going to wear them for a few more months till the test. It will be a new uniform form at that time I hope.

I highly encourage you to make the sacrifices necessary to take private lessons. The 1 on 1 attention really has allowed me to deepen my material and quicken the pace of learning.

Two days ago I went through technical speed with my first 11 forms one time each and then through my next four forms 3 times each at technical speed. I also put some time into bow staff basics and sword basics to hone those movements better. My sword basics are still not where I would like it to be, but it was fun to get the dust off my bow staff basics. It took one hour and thirty minutes to complete this workout. Today I am going to do the same thing, only tai chi speed for all the forms.
