When my dad said, "GMOs are just the same as the selective breeding humans have been doing for thousands of years," I said, "Well, that's not what they tell the Patent Office. Or their investors."
From the article:Perhaps the most ironic part of this whole charade is the fact that ever since then, Monsanto and other biotech companies have filed patents arguing that their GM products are completely unique and different from their conventional counterparts, and therefore must receive patent protection and monopoly!
It always amazes me how stupid humans are. I have also heard the same comment about GMO's. About 9 years ago someone from the Yamhill County Peace Makers new I had a lot of knowledge about GMO Foods. They asked me to come a join them at a Linfield discussion about GMO foods. There was a flim to watch. It was obvious the film was made by the bio-tech companies. It sadden me that so many Linfields students (and yamhill county peace makers) had no knowledge about how GMO foods are created. The film basically said it was selective breeding. They basically said that humans have been doing this for many many years. The used the potato for an example. Of course I told them about the real way GMO foods were created. Hopefully it made an impact.
I wish people would use their brains more. It does not take much to sit and really think about things. Let's think about this.
Since when do humans have a labs in their garden and take DNA from chemical herbicides and e-coli and slip it into our corn genes, soy genes, cotton genes, wheat genes, salmon genes, goat genes, tomato genes, papaya genes, canola genes, grass genes, the list goes on................. and these GMO foods cause cancer!

One of the things that bug me is, The Bioengineers are modifying the Lifecycle of the plant so they don't germinate. And that is the part that is sold to be eaten. They are hiding behind the Argument that "We make Plants that will grow were others cannot so we are feeding BILLIONS of people" but they leave out the "But they have to buy the seed from us for every planting or they will starve." If companies like Monsanto WERE altruistic they would be looking for ways to grow plants where they don't usually grow, and allow the farmers to replant the plants and not patent the technology so others can't use it.
Hehe.. Over 10 Billion Served!
