Healthy Snacks - Rice Crispy Treats and Granola Bars

Most people fill up on sugary snacks filled with toxic ingredients.  

The recipes below are super simple and taste amazing.  All you need to do is make a little time on a Sunday or your day off and prepare some awesome food and snacks.  

By being prepared you will make better healh choices.   Better health choices give you energy, strength and wisdom.  

WARNING: THESE ARE HIGHLY ADDICTING

Please use organic ingredients as much as possible. 

Peanut Butter Rice Crispy Treats

4 cups puffed rice cereal (ingredients should just be rice, water and salt)

1 cup of peanut butter or nut butter of choice

1 cup rice syrup

1/2 cup crushed flax seed

1/2 cup crushed pumpkin seed

Butter pyrex pan 9 x 13

Preparation:  Whisk the peanut butter/nut butter and rice syrup in a sauce pan on medium-low heat to the point of boiling.  

In a large bowl, mix rice puffs, flax seeds and pumpkin seeds

Coat rice puffs with rice syrup and peanuter butter and/or nut butter mixture. 

Press the mixture into the pan

Allow to cool and then cut into squares 

Granola Bars

1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats

1 cup rice puff cereal

1/2 cup crushed flax seeds

1/2 cup crushed pumpkin seeds

1/2 flaked coconut

1/2 cup rice syrup

1/4 cup peanut butter or nut butter of choice

1 tsp. Real vanilla extract

1/4 tsp sea salt

1 tsp. organic pumpking spice

 

Oven 325 degrees

Butter 8 x 8 pyrex pan

Mix the dry ingredients

Warm the rice syrup, peanut butter and/or nut butter, vanilla, salt and pumpking spice.  It should be loose and liquidy enough to pour 

Stir the rice syrup mixture into the dry ingredients until it is completely coated.  

Press into the pan 

Bake for 20 - 25 minutes for chewy or 25 - 30 mintues for crunchy bars.  

Let cool completely.
