I posted last week on the other mountain warrior website that I am going to conduct an experiment over the holidays in terms of eating and exercising. I am going to exercise more than I normally do and say no to sweets. I normally do eat well, but also tend to try to respect others who make sweets for us over the holidays by eating them. That pile is getting way too big. So far so good, but the past week I met a worthy challenger. This Thanksgiving while in Montana, there were pies galore. I made it most of the way except for my wife's 80 year-old-grandmother. She made pumpkin pie and she asked me multiple times to eat a piece. I tried every self-defense tactic I could. Get-away to the kids room ... she found me. Get away to the tv room ... she found me. Get away to go for a walk ... she was waiting for me. I tried negotiation, confusion, and dissuasion. Nothing worked. Next is get a weapon ... I decided against that. Since Dakota was in Oregon, in the end I ate her pie, it was delicious and mostly home grown. If only I could train with her levels of tenacity! I would be black belt already!
