Old way/New way

As I am sure many of you already know I am a member of an international martial arts organization that is called the new way network. But I realy think that it should be called the old way network because the values that are being expressed are the values of the past. The head of the organization is a master teacher named Tom Callos. His vision is to have the martial arts come back to the meaning that it once had in ancient times. I have worked for many years on this same path. Integrity is most important to me. In the old martial arts training it was most important to see your training as a path to greater understanding about life. Many martial arts schools have deviated from this part of the training because it makes the proccess of growth harder. It takes on more meaning than just kicking and punching. To inspire that type of growth is difficult as it involves every aspect of who each individual is in the school. I would like to encourage all of my students to take their training to heart and see how much more that they can express their training in their every day lives. This is an on going proccess that (like everything else) will get easier with time and practice.

Our philosophy in this school is to seek integrity. Not only in our training but in our daily actions. You will not be known for how high you can kick but rather for how high you can help to pull others up the ladder of life.

Seek mastery as opposed to mediocrity! Remember, In Discipline Lies Freedom!!!!!.
