Slightly different version of the herbal energy balls

High-powered food supplement.  They are energizing and restorative.  The are especially great for men.  Be  sure the herbs are finely powdered.

This recipe come from a book we use a lot at our house to keep us all healthy.  The book is Rosemanry Gladstar's herbal Recipes for Vibrant Health.

This is my version of the recipe that is in he book:

1/2 cup raw organic pumpkin seeds chopped up

2 tsp. Siberian ginseng powder

1 tsp ginkgo

1 tsp gotu kola powder

1 tsp ginseng powder 

1  Tablespoon spirulina 

1 cup raw organic almond butter

1/2 cup honey ( 1 did 1/3 cup because the first time I made this it was to sweet for us)

1/2 cup organic raw crushed almonds

1/2 cup organic shredded coconut

You could also add other chopped up nuts.  We like to add chopped up raw walnuts.   You could add 1/4  cup of raisins and sometimes for a treat we will add just a small amount really dark chocolate chips and about 1/8 of a cup of cocoa powder.    Once you have made this recipe, I encourage you to play around with it.  

You will need either cocoa powder or carob powder to roll the balls in. 

Combine the powered herbs and spirulina and mix well.    Next combine the almond butter and honey, mixing to form a paste.   Now add enough of the powdered herbs to thicken, then add the almonds, pumpkin seeds and any other flavoring additions.  Roll into walnut sized balls then roll  in your cocoa powder.  Again,  you can use carob instead.  If you do not want the cocoa powder or carob just roll in some shredded coconut.    Eat two energy balls daily.    Enjoy :)
