I detest WD40. It smells noxious, is very toxic and until now I thought a must have on my farm. Especially since I tend to forget and leave my tools exposed to the elements! Bad Choctaw Medicine Woman! I found a pair of my wire cutter/pliers outside and solidly rusted closed. Dang! Then it crossed my mind that DMSO is a solvent. So I went to my medicine cabinet, smeared some DMSO on the aformentioned tool and viola! Not only did it work just as well and as quickly as WD40, there was zero toxic smell to deal with. I scrubbed the rust off with baking soda and reapplied a mixture of recycled olive oil and DMSO. They are good as new!!
