As easy as falling off a log? I wonder who thought falling was easy? I had a private lesson on falling Tuesday. My mistake  was thinking it would be "easy" to learn to fall. My second mistake was thinking I could do it a few hours before my regular Kung Fu class! I mean wouldn't it be just like a warm up for Kung Fu? No problem!

Problem! Two days later I am still soaking in Epsom Salts hot baths! When I woke up at night to turn over I had to grab the mattress and grit my teeth as I hauled myself over on to my other side. And I am not a wimp as far as pain is concerned. Different muscles are used in falling, and being 55 and over weight apparently being careful not to fall has had it's way with my "falling muscles"!  But I will live.

Not only will I live, I will continue to practice falling. Those muscles need work too. I can't imagine though moving from the 8 inch mat to the 4 and then to the floor! Sifu assures me I will be able to do it.

Now I just have to convince my muscles this is good for them! Nice muscles! It builds your character! Ow!

Awwww. That's interesting about needing to learn to fall well. Very important, and not just for fighting! I find in class that I do get more tired from being the person who gets taken down (even though that is the more passive role) than from doing the taking down. I hope you feel better!
Falling down may be easy, but it's getting up again that is the thing...
