Do You Really Want To Put Chemical Sunscreen On Your Skin?

There is a lot of research out there that leads to Regular Suncreens causing skin cancer.  Do you really want to put some product on your body that has petroleum products, cancer causing ingredients and synthetic fragrances on you?  Do some research, look at the back of your bottle and look up every ingredient.   You are also polluting the environment buy using them.  We have all been up set over the BP incident well you are supporting BP by using regular sunscreens because they have petroleum products in them.    So yesterday I came accross and natural sunscreen and here is the recipe.  Of course there are other alternatives like light weight farbric shirts that are long sleeve, hats (this is a great one) and stay out of the sun at it's most strongest times.

HERBAL SUN SCREEN

Recipe from the Herb Shop Portland Oregon

3 Tbsp. Sesame oil

1 Tbsp Avocado Oil

1 Tbsp jojoba

1 Tbsp Almond oil

1 Tbsp Shea butter

2 Tbsp Cocoa butter

1 tsp beeswax

1 tsp. vitamin E

1 tsp Vitamin C

2 Tbsp. Rose water

2 Tbsp Aloe Gel

1/2 tsp. Borax

20 Drops Carrot seed oil

5 Drops of essential oil of choice

First melt all oils, butters, beewax, careful not to over heat.  Once melted add vitamin E and C.  In a separate container heat up aloe gel, rose water and borax until borax is dissolved.  Get both pans to the same temperature then put the rose water combination over a bowl of ice and slowly add oil/butter combination while whisking briskly.  Store in the refrigerator.  Should last 6 months.

Do Not use microwaves to make any herbal recipes!

And the times to stay out of the sun are between 10:00 AM AND 2:00 PM. Morning sun is the best, and evening sun is good. There is research that shows it is not the sun light that does damage but the rancid oils in our diet when the sun hits them on your skin. thanks for the recipe Sue!
