Modifications

Life is fluid, as is training. I have found that I need to be good at both pushing towards goals with strong determination and also modifying when needed.

I have a few modifications to make in the next week ... some minor - some major. The most immediate modification is due to some of my in-laws coming out for five days. Now ... we live in a two bedroom apartment and three of them are coming to stay. I will no longer have a place to train (nor sleep really :) at home while they are… Continue

Goals

Friday I ended up not doing padded stick for a couple of reasons. But I did follow through with going to forms class. I was not feeling so good on Friday so I took it slow.

Black Belt class I showed up but it was to smelly for me. There was a lot of laundry smell. So I went into my office and worked on the computer. I love doing research so I made a cup of tea and worked on some subjects that I had been wanting to research .

Wednesday is black belt training for the…

Life

Hi everyone, its been awhile.

As I'm getting older and gaining more and more experience in life, I've found that it is an awesome experience. I know what you may be thinking. How could life be so good with all the negativity in this world? Well let me tell you the answer to that question. Life is good because YOU CHOOSE to make it good. Of course life is hard thats just the nature of this life but let me ask another question What are YOU focusing on? Your negative state? or your…

Sore Muscles AHHHHHHHHHHH!

Well I am very stiff and sore from the 1 1/2 hour forms workout. Sitting seems to give out right before touchdown and walking feels like I am disabled. Sitting in the car today driving the girls around is not going to be good thing. I will make sure I stretch while I wait for them because they are ice skating today.

Friday the goal is to do padded stick class and forms.

Women Target Practice

Hello All,

I need to know exactly who is coming to the target practice. We only have so much room for safety reasons. I have had people telling me they are coming and maybe bringing someone. I need to know ASAP who is coming because there might not be enough room for all.

Looking forward to getting together.

Food coloring: Watch out for that artifical green food!

I want to remind everyone that artifical colors have propylene glycol in them and other cancer causing ingrediants. Artifical colors also cause behavior problems, like hyper-activity and depression. So make sure your green food today is real food.

If you haven't tried Matcha Green Tea I suggest you try it. When we have it, we use steamed vanilla oat milk. Here is a cupcake recipe that uses Matcha for the green. I would imagine you could use any powdered greens food drink. I think I am…

Four hour training today for Jade and Sophia

It is a matter of minutes that Jade and Sophia are going to train for four hours straight. They are gettiing ready for their black belt test. When I trained for my black belt test I did several 4 hour workouts and because of this my recovery was very quick. They will be doing lots of cardio, hard bag work, many rounds of straight blast with 16 ounce gloves on. What fun to give them. Sophia is already whining, lol ! I will be working on my forms and join them for some of the rounds.

Sophie's eggs and update

My last two weeks have been good training weeks. I missed some plyrometric work-outs but I made up for them with hikes with my daughter in the backpack with friends at Cascade Head and the Oregon Coast Line.

The highlight to share was coming home with another box of Sophie's eggs. It was a Thursday night and I had just finished a back-to-back class. I headed up to Glacial Rock for some meditation following class. When I got home at 10:30pm Carla was reading in bed, nearly asleep. I… Continue

Sneaky Life Style Changes

What does a mom like me do, knowing what I know about pollution and contamination of our environment, yet having to accomodate other adult individuals living in my household? When ever I try to give scientific explanations behind what I want to do, their eyeballs roll back into their head and you would think I was making them pick up dog poop in the back yard! I was thinking about this yesterday as I bought my mom the requested items she had placed on her shopping list. (plain white sugar and… Continue

Sparring

I am surprised at how much I am looking forward to learning how to spar! Every time we've done free flow hubad, I experienced an excitement and just pure pleasure at not knowing what my partners next movement would be and was also very surprised when my arms responded with the proper block! (like the punch block) I have only done any sparing with Tae Kwon Doe when I went to test for my green belt. (I was 17 years old then!) I will need to balance my need to protect a weak back with my desire to… Continue
