Getting My Exercise In This Holiday Season...

Thursday was epic, long, cold, freezing and memorable.

Sunday we decided to go out again and take a few more family members...

We hiked Tom, Dick and Harry Mountain.  Backpacks, yak trax, food, water, tea and a beautiful 5.8 mile hike up.   It was epic, a bit cold and beautiful.

I have really enjoyed our hikes and it has felt great to not be apart of the holiday rush out there.   …

Do you know my wife?

Well, I should have seen it coming. But, like all ex-kick boxers, I’ve taken a few too many shots to the head. Sometimes my long term memory takes a hike and I forget how things turned out last time. It’s not oldstimers or sillynelity that I’ve got. It’s just that my storage area of the brain shuts down and I open my mouth when I should have thought the situation out a little more fully.…

Trigger word seminar!

I enjoyed this emotionally tough seminar. The trigger word is a tool that we don't learn in regular classes, but I feel can be extremely powerful in my self defense arsenal. In some drastic situations there might not be enough time to think, so the trigger word can be used to get your subconscious on high alert for action. Sifu told us that the trigger word, if practiced in the way he taught us, can be used to clear our minds and prepare our body for whatever action a situation calls… Continue

Last nights Black belt class

Great Black belt class last night. For the few Black belts that missed it,(yea, you know who you are) I just want you to know that Sifu brought forward some eye opening temple secrets. The base techniques that we learned for Black belt seems to be just the outer layer on the onion. Hidden in the movements of the the techniques are pathways to all movements. Sifu peeled back another layer so we could peek into our understanding of movement that eludes the inexperienced.

Try to make the next… Continue

Qi Gong class

I just wanted to share some thoughts after yesterday's QiGong class. Something just clicked into place when Mr. Bronson taught us about having access to lightness and happiness, using memory. Based on what's been happening so far, it's changed my life! That was definitely missing from my practice. I tend to go straight to my head, get focussed, think too much. But this new exercise is giving me huge energy! This makes me think that not being light, rather being depressed or stressed, sucks a…

What's In Your Pantry?

What's In Your Pantry?  Is it healthy? or is it a death certificate?

Here is a video of Tana and her husband on what's in your pantry.  They do a really good job and I wanted to share this with you.

I challenge you to go through your cupboards/pantry and throw out all the bad, toxic, unhealthy and energy zapping food.

Can you do it?

F.A.Q. What is the difference between Kung Fu and Karate?

Q. What is the difference between Kung Fu and Karate?

A. There are so many ways to answer this question. And, to be honest, I could take hours in explaining all of the differences. In the interest of being brief, and to not bore all of you, let me put it this way.

Kung Fu is, to the martial arts world, as Ballet is to the dance world. Karate/Tae Kwon Do are, to the martial arts world, as…
