Recovery

Well, my surgery went very well, and I am recovering quickly. I hope to be able to return to class the week starting feb 6. Meanwhile, I am watching the videos (the new ones of empty hand work and stick work are very helpful), as well as imagining doing some of the moves. And I can now start brisk aerobic walking. I got tired of sitting at home recuperating after about one day...

Another year and more sand.

It has been awhile since I last posted about my life and training. Hard to imagine that it has been a year and a half since I was a regular attender of evening classes with other Mountain Warriors. Training continues in martial arts and life for me even though I don't get to be a part of the great classes together.

I have been working on my goals for this next year for the past month. I think I have them settled now.

Educational Goal: Complete doctorate program in March. Our…

Crispy Pumpkin Seeds

Makes 4 cups

4 cups raw organic, hulled pumpkin seeds

The Case For Raw Milk, Keep Soy and Pasteurized Dairy Out Of Your Diet

I do not agree that Organic Raw Milk has been directly linked to cancer, type 1 diabetes, MS, Eczema, hear disease and etc...    Drinking raw milk dates back 30,000 years ago. The earliest human artifacts include vessels containing traces of milk residue.  Hippocrates, Galen and other ancient physicians used raw milk in the treatment of disease.  As late as the 20th century, modern physicians prescribed the raw milk cure to their patients…

Planning Your Meals and Snacks

Eating right does not begin at the stove or at the table. It starts with a plan.  But the best-laid plans are worthless if they don't fit your activities and food preferences.  Planning your menus means more than just thinking about what you will eat.

You should write down your food choices on a day-by-day basis:  The process should not feel overwhelming.  If it does, perhaps you are making too many changes too quickly.

Set small goals for yourself, such as scouting out…

Harvest Fresh

On the topic of education - I really appreciate Mr Bronson's rule about organic only on the premises. It has become an opportunity for education. I sometimes shop at Harvest Fresh for organic veggies in a pinch, and I asked the man behind the deli if the deli food is organic. Not only is it NOT organic, it is made by Cosco foods, one of those centralized and highly processed operations. We aren't eating any of that anymore. I find their inventory overpriced, anyway, but now I feel that their… Continue

HospItal food

I just spent a couple of days in hospital, for some surgery, and I am happy to be home. The food they have in hospitals is not healthy! It isn't "junk food", but it still has gmo ingredients. They seem to focus on low-fat, but not organic. I may sound naive to be surprised about this, but I haven't spent a lot of time in hospitals. If they made better food, the patients might recover faster. I believe it is a matter of education.

Breakfast smoothie

Im still learning to navigate this site, Luddite that I am, so here goes...

My breakfast today is a smoothie. It contains almond milk, blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, ginger, hempseeds, superfood powder (made up by a friend who eats organic healthy food).

My other favorite breakfast is eggs scrambled with various veggies (including garlic, onion, ginger, and whatever else). I add turmeric, cumin, coriander, and a tad of homegrown rosemary. After sautéing the… Continue

GREEN FOOD DAY

Before working out and running this morning I had a glass of water with kelp. Then some green tea whilst making breakfast.

Breakfast was Organic eggs with local organic kale, kohlrabi, leeks, cilantro, raw onions and some salsa. After eating I had a little bit of apple cider vinegar, then a few minutes down the road, some oat milk with hemp protein powder... and a pinch…

Workouts

Yesterday, my workout post did not work according to how it was suppose to go.  I thought I would share with you what my experience was .  The post was this, the workout today consists of: Raking horse poo, brushing three horses, taking dogs and horses up the hill, dips at the top, push ups at the top, hanging abs, bicep curls, reverse curls, shoulder press, one arm row and stretch.  I made it outside to pick up horse poo, I untangle a few manes and then it was time to get food together.  My…

12 Things happy People Do

  1. Express gratitude. – When you appreciate what you have, what you have appreciates in value.  Kinda cool right?  So basically, being grateful for the goodness that is already evident in your life will bring you a deeper sense of happiness.  And that’s without having to go out and buy anything.  It makes sense.  We’re gonna have a hard time ever being happy if we aren’t thankful for what we already have.
  2. Cultivate optimism. – Winners have the…
