Heavy bag training video/my progress

http://youtu.be/SzfIdObTVSQ

This is one of the best videos I have made yet! I went to the gym today, and decided afterwards I would work the heavy bag. I believe I have progressed a whole lot when it comes to speed, and power. I also managed to pull off a flying spinning back kick! But it still needs some work.

This is a really great workout I wanted to show you all. It's called Jik Chung Chuie(Chain punch) It's great to add to your free flow, because it's like straight blasts but punching.

Suggestion for a video?

I think it would be very very helpful if there were a video on how to harvest and save seed properly. The more I read about seed companies, even organic ones, being bought up by Monsanto, the more I think that saving seeds may save our lives. I do save seeds, but I don't feel like I am enough of an expert to really teach it, and I don't have a video camera. Is anyone else willing to do it? It seems like the right time of year for it.

Sue's salve

I have tendinitis in one wrist (also both thumbs, but the thumbs aren't bothering me now), and the concert I am rehearsing, Beethovens 5th Symphony, irritates it. I am using the salve regularly on it, as well as on all my fingers (for arthritis), and it is working. My hands aren't so stiff and achy in the morning, and the wrist is doing pretty well, in spite of the nearly constant irritation.

Workout

My brother Max and I are training for our 2nd degree black belts together. Here was our morning workout.

We stared with Bi Fit Sao, today he did it with a bench held over his head (we only have one so we alternate days) for 2 minutes, then one minute of golden chicken on each side. Then we did forward bend, chin to toe and side to side stretches. Next was straight punching in horse stance, we both counted off 20 punches, then the same with side punches. After that we did 50…

Movie about GMOs

Please check out this excellent film about GMOs! Jeff Smith is a leading expert on the topic, and there is a lot of vital info here! You can watch it for free until sept 22 at www.GeneticRouletteMovie.com
I actually ordered a copy after seeing it, so I can lend it for a showing.

Challenging My Salve

Sunday night I smashed my hand between a heavy load of dirt and the van. I had nerve pain and could not use my hand. Sophia used my salve and did deep tissue massage for about 5 minutes. Extremely painful ! I was able to use my hand after that and the bruising left by yesterday. Wow. What a healing. I thought at first my hand would be out of commission for a few days or more. I had also hurt my upper back digging holes a few days prior to smashing my hand. I had hurt it bad enough that…

Homeschooling

Some people (not from Kung fu school) have surprised me with their negative assumptions about homeschooling, how Johanna will turn into an antisocial weirdo etc. but I find the opposite already. She loves it. She offers to help with home and garden tasks without being asked, she asks if she can practice more piano. This morning I found her using the computer and feared she was playing computer games. Turned out she was doing school work! No regrets about homeschooling! She's starting to knit,… Continue

Harvest

Tomatoes are in the canner, fruit is dry. When the Bosc pears are ripe I will make sauce, as we already have TONS of dried fruit. Anyone have recipes for tomatillos that I can freeze or can? Made fresh salsa but dislike frozen salsa. Perhaps a tomatillo sauce for meat? Meanwhile, the blue corn is hanging in the basement to dry for grain. We had one deformed ear. I suspected GMO contamination, but it is blue like the others, so more likely a mutation from another cause. Radiation? Chance? The… Continue

Italy Training

Short but sweet.

1)  1 1/2 hour climbing.

2)  Lead leg kicks: Wheel, Front, Side:  10 each both legs

3)  Spinning Kicks: Heel, Crescent, Wheel:  5 each both legs

4)  Straight horse stance:  2 rounds; 1 minute per round

5)  Downhill trail running:  short steps; knees bent- great awareness training , as fall or trip would have had serious consequences- the too fast descent.

6) Back at casa:  30 push-ups.

My Training Day

My training day today was a 3 mile up hill run that included a few creeks.  It was not as muddy as I would have liked but it was a great up hill challenge.  It also include at least 6 little up and down motor cross type hills.  Hills are one of my favorite things to do, and I am not kidding.

The best part about it was doing this with Sophia and Laz.

I can't tell you how important it is to be active and get involved with your toddlers, kids, teens and young adults.…

Eating Bitter - Determination

Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.…
