The giving season

And we are giving away a series of great free classes to our students.

First let me mention our "Beat the Bulge" free workout class. Every year the average American gains 5 to 10 pounds during the holidays. And many never take those pounds off again. This year we are fighting back against the bulge by offering three different workouts during the month of Dec. to help our students win the battle against the bulge.

These workouts are 45 min. of wonderful cardio. and…

Amazing statement

"You know we receive an education in the schools from books. All those books that people became educated from twenty-five years ago, are wrong now, and those that are good now, will be wrong again twenty-five years from now. So if they are wrong then, they are also wrong now, and the one who is educated from the wrong books is not educated, he is misled. All books that are written are wrong, the one who is not educated cannot write a book and the one who is educated, is really not educated…

Children

To give your children the best start at life, and help instill healthy habits that will last a lifetime, you must lead by example.

Healthy Snack Time

Today, I snacked on a big bowl of salad.   It was kale, celeriac, carrots, beets, onions, garlic, pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  The salad was big enough that Sophia, Sue and I could snack on it for half the day.

It is vitally important to feed your body lots of veggies.

Set a goal this coming week to get more greens in your (and your children's) daily intake.  …

Christmas parade 2012

This year, like every other year for the past 10 years or more, the Kung Fu school performance team participated in the Christmas parade. It was our wettest year ever. I am so proud of the members of the team for being such great sports about the rain. They turned up the heat and put on a great performance.

Special thanks goes out this year to Milton Bates and Terry McLaughlin. Milton was in charge of the music ( Like every year ) and Terry was our vehicle driver ( now his…

One week into the rotation ...

I have completed one week of my new rotation of forms. It has been great training and I have had some new insights. After four days, I was about ready to call Mr. Bronson and ask him if we could schedule the test earlier rather than later because my familiarity with the forms felt good. I decided to give it a full week and before my second go through of the fast forms I gave some thought as to what curves Mr. Bronson my throw at me in the test. One of the thoughts I had was to practice doing…

Herbicides and Parkinson's

A friend of mine who often argues with me about the importance of eating organic (she sees no difference between organic and conventional food) seems to be getting Parkinson's, and she is in her late fifties. I know there is plenty of information out there about the connection between early onset Parkinson's and herbicides! I would bet that Sue has even posted something somewhere on this site about it.

A BIG reason to eat organic! I have been hearing lately about a lot of people (friends… Continue

Using up big zucchini

I have been grating them, as well as yellow beet, ginger, and carrots, adding cut peppers and parsley, oil and vinegar and sea salt and pepper. Makes a healthy and substantial salad, and uses up those torpedoes lurking in my pantry! I just add whatever I find that looks good and needs to be used up.

my next 2 - 3 weeks

I was able to achieve my last goal of working through 100 reps of my last form before seeing Mr. Bronson again this week. I ended up doing it at 112 times. After 112 times I felt like a good beginner with the form. Today I met with Mr. Bronson for a private lesson to review my forms and I walked away with 15 refinements that will make the forms more powerful, sharp, and smooth. In two or three weeks I will be testing for the first level of forms. In order to integrate these new refinements…

100 reps of my new form by Wednesday

This past week I received the last part of my final form for the first level test. I love the Wah Lum Little First Form. I am hoping to meet again with Mr. Bronson for a private on Wednesday to refine all nine of the forms. In order for Wah Lum Little First Form to be ready I have made a goal of doing it 100 times before we meet again. Since that Wednesday every day I have worked through the following work-out to make that goal.

2 reps of Wah Lum Little First Form

2…

Healthy and delicious dip

Yesterday I made this delicious dip: put in the cuisinart the following items-

A half bunch of celery, chopped roughly

A big bunch of parsley, chopped roughly

A cup or so of pre-soaked sunflower seeds (no shells)

Two chunks of Moroccan preserved lemon

A smallish onion, chopped roughly

A bit of sea salt

One smashed clove of garlic

A spoonful of miso optional (I didn't use any)

Blend to desired consistency, eat on crackers or bread or veggie… Continue
