Health Care

In one particular video, you speak of a "health care plan" as being the food we injest today can care for our health tomorrow. The good food we eat now, equates to good health five years from now. This comment provided an "aha" moment for me, and it put in perspective America's misplaced attitude toward health care. America does not have a "helath care" system. America has a "sick care" system. Once we get sick, we have insurance and medical facilities to care for our particular sickness. It…

External Accountability

I have changed my diet drastically in the last 7 weeks. No more candy at the check out line in the stores, no more eating out, and even though I already cooked all my meals at home from scratch I have begun to make changes even there. For instance I am beginning to buy more and more organic. (I used to think I couldn't afford that but not eating out changed my opinion on that. Even two meals per month adds up!)

So, not wishing to make too many changes too fast, and therefor feel… Continue

Minor adjustments in the short and long term

This past week I have had to make some minor adjustments to training and life goals. We had a large retreat for middle schooler this past weekend. It was a great time together, but I came back with something wrong with my thumb (intense dog pile moment), patches of poison oak, and sleep deprivation. It was worth it. We climbed a mountain, played lots of hoops, volleyball, and had intense pillow fights. Kung Fu has increased my pillow fighting skills exponentially. Thanks Mr. Bronson.

I… Continue

More Accountability

I had another dental appointment today and the accountability question I must ask myself is, will I indulge in a pity party for the ache in my jaw or will I suck it up and work out anyway? Sigh Now that I have posted it I have no choice! hee hee See what else blogs are good for? Accountability!

Old way/New way

As I am sure many of you already know I am a member of an international martial arts organization that is called the new way network. But I realy think that it should be called the old way network because the values that are being expressed are the values of the past. The head of the organization is a master teacher named Tom Callos. His vision is to have the martial arts come back to the meaning that it once had in ancient times. I have worked for many years on this same path. Integrity is…

LOOK OUT WORLD! Here I come!

I did my morning Kung Fu stretches and put a red, rolled up bandana around my head to soak up sweat when I leave in a moment for my walk/jog. (When I get

stronger I will make that Jog/walk, then jog/jog. Well momma said, "Do

you have to wear that thing outside!?

I…

Accountability

I have given my three kids each a small journal to log their daily workouts and acts of kindness in. They must come to me and have me watch them exercise while I iron or wash dishes. A good way to hold them accountable yes. But what about me? If I were any good at holding myself accountable in the first place, I wouldn't be in the physical shape I am in now! So mom has a small journal too. We are keeping these in our Kung Fu bag that holds our shoes. (As I also have a tendency to misplace… Continue

Following Mr. Bronson's lead

As you all know, since the new year we have been training in the new intensive format that Mr. Bronson has laid out for us. The beginning of the new year also marked the time that I achieved my green belt. For prior belt advancements I would take one private a month to get my new material. I would then add this new material to my weekly rhythm and practice each new piece once a week.

Around the new year I was speaking to Mr. Bronson about his our change in intensity during class time… Continue

Great beginning to February

It has been a great week and a half of training in February. I am feeling strong again following that sickness at the end of January. I have been able to practice my green belt material twice a day, and sometimes three times a day (my wife was in a conference in Canada while my daughter was at the beach with my parents ~ so much free time!).

It is about time to set up a private class to have Sifu Bronson fine tune my new material again.

Strength

Strength is a incrediable thing. Seeking and finding strength to do the things you need to do in your life is very important. I know walking around angry at the world because it smells of chemicals is the wrong thing to do. I know that isn't good for my health either. Hearing Stephanie's comment to me calmed that anger and made my heart smile. I was so full of anger I was forgetting something very important. There have been alot of changes made in other peoples lives because of my MCS and…

January in Review

I am still partly in denial that it is February already. Time flies. It was a great month of training. My first three weeks of January were strong and fulfilled my goals. My last week I had the in-laws in town and I got sick (the in-laws were sick when they came). I had to tailor my week of training to be super slow flow drills and take a break from the weights, cardio, and plyrometrics. The sickness did give me more time to stretch. It also help me make time to get organized. I was able to… Continue

Finding Strength

The last couple of months I have had these different reactions to chemical enviroments. Each reaction was getting a little bit worse. The last one was the worst. Having MCS has change my life in so many extreme ways. I have become a recluse to stay alive. I have lost most of my friendships due to them not calling me to go do anything and me not calling them because I was too afraid and too sick to go. This last year has been my best for getting better so at the same time I have felt more… Continue

push ups

Ive been meaning to write this blog for a little while now but ive been busy. As we all know our Sifu is doing the ultimate black belt test and in that he has to do 150 push ups a day. So ive decided on teaming up with him on doing a 150 push ups a day. right now i am at 750 push ups total. I encourage all of us to maybe take some part of this ultimate black belt test and do it consistently for as ever long as the test is. We as students need to be proud of our Sifu and what he is… Continue
