Well rounded meal of forms

Yesterday I worked through my forms again with great intensity. In my last private lesson, I was able to get the moves needed to complete the eighth form. My workout with the forms was threefold. First I did each form twice focusing on technical placement and timing (Mr. Bronson gave me six things to work on with my forms to sharpen my technique). I then did each of the eight forms twice at tai chi speed - which was more difficult than I anticipated by the eighth form. I then did each of the…

Dinner of Simply Grown Beef

For my mom's 75th birthday dinner I made Boeuf Bourgignon with Brian's Simply Grown Beef and some organic veggies, and it was delicious. Served it over brown rice.  The side salad was orange slices, pear, and pomegranite, all organic. Dessert was a Serbian Walnut Cake, one of my favorite recipes. It is very rich, with a stick of butter in the frosting, hardly any flour, and lots and lots of walnuts. A good time was had by all. Brian's beef is great!

MORE FORMS!

Today is a rest day, but yesterday was a doozy of a workout. I would do one rep of my first six forms and then five reps of the seventh form and five reps on what I know of the eighth form. In an hour and seven minutes I did five reps of the first through sixth forms and twenty five reps of the seventh and eighth partial form. All in all, I did 80 forms in just over an hour. Mental focus and leg strength were being pushed to levels in the end.

Moldy food makes us happy

....guess what is not in any food in italy?........high fructose corn syrup......guess what is not in the milk in Italy......hormones.......nor are there genetically modified foods.  We have also found that there is far less sugar put in the foods here.  Even the pastries, while delicious are not sickly sweet.

Furthermore, when we shop for food everyday at the public market, the fruit and vegetables are ripe.  It is expected that the food is to be eaten soon after being picked. The…

Changing my focus of personal training to forms training.

I finally have some time, space, and meager funds to give a go at the 2nd journey of forms. I picked up my 6th form this week and I am finding great joy and meaning in working the forms with greater precision, flow, and strength ... though I have a long way to go before they have formed me in the ways they intend. This past private lesson with Mr. Bronson, he alluded to the fact that if my hips were more flexible, I would get more out of the forms. After some reflection, I am going to…

Training across the pond

It's now been one month since my wife and I left the US. Training, however, is no different than if we were at home. I work at "home" at a computer all day. My training comes in 10 minute intervals when I take a break from work every 1 1/2 - 2 hours. This usually works out to 3 ten minute workouts, or 30 minutes/day. I couple this with an hour walk around the city (currently Florence)everyday with Bobbi. Training is more sporadic on traveling days, but we will be here for the next two…
