Weekly Wellness Letter: Food, The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

After reading the article "Ocean is Broken" I decided to put my two cents in. I am a canary, I observe, I watch, I listen and I smell. I sit with nature and watch everyday, I can tell you, that the birds, butterflies, the bees, dragonflies and the frogs, that, their numbers are way down. Even more this year. No scientist has to tell me this, I am an observer, I am intuitive, I see this with my own eyes. I have been telling people, about my…

Wake up call

After being sick for....EVER! And fighting it off naturally without antibiotics I couldn't wait to train again. I decided to go explosive with my workout, and give my body a good wake up call. So here is what I did. 20 push-ups to 20 air squats. I reached 100 of each. 10 push-up to sprint, 12 burpees, 50 sit-ups, 40 leg raisers(upper and lower abs), and 20 crunches. Nothing like getting back to work ( :

Healthy Living Rewards

Even though living a healthy life style has perks, it also involves what others might consider as denying yourself earthly pleasures, like not smoking or drinking, both of which are addictive, toxic poisons. But the rewards are a greater chance at ageing well and healthy! My 66 year old hubby works as a carpenter and maintenance man for the Federal Park System. He will be packing a 75 lb back pack containing a battery for the radio tower, up to Shriners Peak next…

Inspiration... Motivation... Change...

Tonight, I am inspired to write about inspiration.... Motivation.

These words speak to me tonight as I sun gazed this evening, I felt inspired by all the beauty of the colors of the sunset and the brilliant colors of autumn . Tonight seemed special outside, I felt as though nature had given me more daylight time this evening. I felt, as though I went through a slow time warp, that I was able to enjoy a longer evening outside…

Weekly Wellness Letter October 13th 2013

It has been a great farming season and we learned a lot.   There were some hard lessons learned and some insightful ones,

This summer was a green tomato summer, which means a colder winter, I see more darkness and lots of rain... Which means start taking your vitamin D NOW, plan hikes in nature through the fall season and winter.  Hike when it rains, run when it rains, walk in the rain, do kung fu in the rain and dance in the rain.  Embrace the liquid sunshine.  Sungaze at the…

Weekly Wellness Letter October 6th 2013

Dive into you kitchen, pull out those pots and pans, pull out those recipes, check out the recipes below.   You might need a few things before you start, make a list, go to the farmers markets, go grocery shopping, seek foods of the fall season, fall spices, warming foods, warming herbs, warming teas and try something new.  Not from a box, not from the frozen food isle, from pure 100% scratch... Even if you do not cook, just try, play and create.  Learning to play…

Seek Beauty Daily

Tonight, such a beautiful sky, it was hard to come in, (if I did not have to finish canning pear butter I would've stayed out longer). The moon and Venus were big and bright, I sang my night song prayer, giving thanks for many things in my life, for beauty, and for tonight's beautiful skies. As I sang, my horse…

Winter Reminder

Yesterday, we picked lots of tomatoes, laid compost, cut the raspberries, laid more compost, I felt like I was a yellow jacket gathering and preparing before for the ice hit. I could feel it. I pulled the green house…

Kids Bringing Lunch From Home

I have been hearing about how schools (including pre-school) are starting to implement a rule that children can not bring their lunches from home. This is absolutely absurd, wrong, terrible and I can go on and on about how bad this is. This is just another rule about taking freedom away from the American people…

Time For Change..... Let's Pull Together

Shutdown Game.... People vs Gooberment... Gooberment Winning, You fly your colors like you are in a gang... RED/BLUE  You fly your name like you are in a gang.... You separate yourself.... You add barriers... You  point fingers to the other gang.... You blame the other gang... You fight like you are in gangs....  You stick your chest out and display your feathers,  be it red or blue, like a turkey ready to fight.... But, in the end,  the middle (all gooberment), the one that separates you…

Little did he know ...

Seven years ago I ruptured my achilles tendon completely. My tendon balled up into my calf after diving for a steal in a championship 3 on 3 game. After reconstructive surgery the doctor said, "Well, it is time to retire to just playing golf." To which I replied, "Not an option. I have my first little girl two months along in the womb and I need to be able to run, jump, climb, wrestle, and carry her (and all her stuff) on backpacking trips." He changed his tone and said, "99/100 retire to…

Gooberment shutdown

I just got back from a short hike at Drift Creek Falls. When I got there, I found a sign from the US Forest Service saying that due to a lapse in gooberment funding the trail was closed. Well I went for my hike anyway and I think I enjoyed it more because it was closed. As I walked through the moss covered trees and the giant ferns I realized I was feeling a little naughty and somewhat patriotic because I was using our public lands without paying or having Obummer's permission. It seems…

Food Safety--- Buy From Your Local Farmers.. This will keep you Safe

The interesting thing about not having the poultry inspectors is this, the inspectors inspect way to many  poultry a day., There is no way they are going to catch salmonella.  It is a Bullshit job title, that does not really catch foodborne diseases.  Keep in mind that even when we have our food inspectors, Foodborne illness sickens 48 million Americans and kills about 3,000 people every year.  What is the interesting part about the gooberment shutdown, is how quick this outbreak happened,…

Wellness Letter October 2nd 2013

In this weeks Mountain Mama Wellness letter I decided to give information in a variety of ways. How you can invest in your health care?  Investing in your health care now is what will give you a better future.

Not only is it a better future for your health, but, also for the oceans, rivers, the air you breath, the soil, the animals, birds and bees.

If you were looking for a retirement plan, looking for a house to buy, etc. you would have a list of needs, things that are…
