I am saddened to say that the hike this Sunday is canceled. I am positive all of you know this.
We are watching the weather and fires before we re-schedule another hike. Our goal is to reschedule this hike in October.
Let's hope for some refreshing rain, and a quickening of the fires to be put out.
Let's remember this, it is tragic that this has happened. But let's also remember that most of the time fires are started by lighting, mother nature. Fires are a…

Kung Fu is a philosophy, not a martial art like so many people believe. If a student of mine tells someone that they do Kung Fu. The question is often asked "what style?" This question shows that the person asking actually does not know what "Kung Fu" means.
When we think of the term "Kung Fu" we often think of iconic figures like Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan or Jet Li. That is because popular culture has put that in front of our eyes to demean Kung Fu and put it in the category of…

Alert: Yesterday, my daughter Sophia was attacked.
She got away and called the police. The police saw him but they did not get him. He is still out there, his intent was to rape and...who knows what. My personal opinion is that this man is extremely dangerous. He was still willing to stalk her when there was big dogs (she was dog sitting for someone). It happened over by Joe Dancer Park at a house.
Male about 5'7, Mexican, had farm boots on and a small backp…

I want to let you all know that I am moving to Texas this weekend to be closer to my family. It is sad to leave friends behind, but this is a good thing for me. I have enjoyed walking the warrior path with all of you and will remember you fondly. My path leads to Texas where I will be an active dad and grandfather. I have found a KungFu school in texas and Sifu has looked at their website and thinks it looks good. I will take lessons with my daughter, Hannah and my grand daughter, sophia. I…

Well, Life threw me a curve ball
I can either duck, be hit, go with it, get stuck or wallow in sorrow...
I have chosen to go with it and walk the path that life just lined out for me. Struggle with it, but not sink, fight but not give up, get tangled up but cut through it, yep that is my plan. Has it been easy? Heck No and double Heck NO. But, I am a born fighter....
When it first happened, that big curve ball, I immediately thought of when I was getting ready to…

You are what you habitually do. We all know this to be true. As long as we are habitually working on our Kung Fu then we are, over time, gaining all of the benefits of that course of action.
So why are people not super successful at Kung Fu (or any of their other chosen activities)? This is because habit is not something we do for a little while, once in a while. A habit is something we consistently do over and over again. Often until the day we die.
For some reason…

I am not here to play.
If being a warrior was about play then everyone would be warriors. Can you have fun in the study of Kung Fu? Yes, but if fun is the main objective then I am afraid that you will never go far.
Training is grueling, time consuming, hard, often boring and sometimes painful. Being very very physical, injuries can and do occur. When injury occurs the student must look at the healing process as the most vital part of their training. The student must…

No one discusses the topic of failure very often. But it is always looking over your shoulder. Failure is walking beside you on every step of your warrior journey
We must confront the fact that we could fail at any moment. This failure would come from our choice to stop pushing forward towards our stated goals.
Simply put, you are already successful if you have not given up. If you are on the path. If you are steadfast in your determination. If you are committed and…
